This morning had a slow start to what would turn into a day we walked more than 10 mile! First up was a scene pulled from the movie From Russia with Love and Dan Brown’s last book – The underground cisterns of Istanbul, Basilica Cistern. Jake was reliving the moments of the book and me the movie as we made our way down and through the underground into a truly mysterious place. Build by the Romans in 532 AD with recycled columns from pagan temples, it was made it even more interesting when we saw the upside down Medusa head and all the fish swing around. We ended our adventure underground with a glass of fresh squeezed pomegranate juice as we marveled over the engineering.
